Uber Eats in space

Uber Eats delivers to all 47 prefectures to Japan. Huge news for them, but not necessarily that exciting for the average Japanese person. So we wanted to find an interesting way to tell the entire country that Uber Eats delivers to more places than ever before. But the announcement ended up travelling a lot further than just the 47 prefectures of Japan.

You probably noticed that all those words were in Japanese, and you’re very impressed that I can write copy in English and Japanese. Sadly, I’m still on level one Duolingo for Japanese. Fortunately, I worked with a great team of translators who were able to make sense of my script. Which in English reads:

From our most base impulses to our loftiest ambitions – the history of humanity has been determined by one thing. Hunger.

Our hunger to keep exploring further. Further than ever before.

On our mission to consume the cosmos and digest all the information of the universe, we grab the galaxy with both hands and dig our teeth into infinity.

Our hunger fuels us. Propels us. Inspires us. And it will never be satisfied.

Except, perhaps, by our favourite food.

We deliver further than ever before,

But before we launched (ha) our big announcement film, we wanted to tease that something big was happening.

It seems everyone is going to space these days. Well, every billionaire at least. But with the uptick in interstellar excursions, we knew it was only a matter of time until we hit an inflection point, and since no one else is prepared to deliver meals to these hungry travellers, we decided it was up to Uber Eats.

But not everyone is lucky enough to go to space. So we created an Instagram Filter to extend the campaign and give our audience a chance to see what it would be like to visit the ISS.
